Engine sputtering while in gear

I have a 95 Sonoma, 2.2 4 cyl engine. I just picked it up used from an old guy that can no longer drive. I replaced plugs, wires, air filter, but still get sputtering and hessitation when I go to drive her. It seems more of a problem in gears 1-3, but is still there in 4th and 5th gear. I plan on changing the fuel filter tomorrow. Is there anything else I should look at as a cause of this problem?

How long ahs it sat for and with gas in it?

Not sure how long she sat before I got her. I am only the 2nd owner of this truck. The guy I got it from bought it brand new in 1995 for $9,726! I'm getting the fuel filter changed tomorrow, hopefully that will help. If not, what should my next course of action be?

Id try that if that doesnt remedy id try niceclean fresh fuel. Also id throw in some engine cleaner wiht it.
