Engine Performance problem
2003 GMC Sonoma 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual

JERKS AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS ,LET OFF GAS CLEARS UP , CHANGED WIRES /PLUGS CHECKED FOR VACUME LEAKS, NO LEAKS PUT ANOTHER SET OF WIRES ON IT STILL DOES IT,COULD IT BE A FUEL PUMP PROBLEM, I ASK THIS SAME QUESTION ON 11-18-09 ,DIDN T GET GOOD ANSWER

Does it also act up in neutral when you step on the gas? Does it do it as soon as you start up or do you have to let it warm up a bit before it acts up?
It is worse when going uphill/downhill?

It could be a partly plugged fuel filter, plugged exhaust, fuel pump, or a bad sensor.

If it also does it while sitting still then listen to the exhaust, does it sound OK or is it whistling?
When was the last time the fuel filter was changed?

What you can do is have a good scan tool stuck on it and see what that shows while it is acting up.

Intermittent problems are about the worst things to track down.

my 97 would studder only if I bogged the engine too much. which I would also describe that as what you are experiencing.
I replaced my crank postition sensor and it fixed my problem.
