2002 GMC Sonoma windshield wiper

When i turn on my windshield wipers the driverside windshield wiper will raise approx an inch then go down while the passenger side works normal.

It sounds like where the wiper bolts on to the gear right there by the windsheild it is lose or stripped out. There should be a plastic cover at the base of the wiper arm. Pry it up and look at the bolt that is holding on the whole wiper arm and slide the wiper on the windsheild as if it were turned on. Watch it and see if the bolt is just loose or it stripped out the gear under the wiper cowel
