Replace Shift Solenoid

1999 gmc serria 1500 ext cab v-8 with 180,000 miles with about 45,000 miles on rebuilt transmission will not shift into overdrive.service engine light is on had it checked out fault code "shift solenoid fault" how do I replace it.

You need to remove the transmission fluid pan to get at it. If it was me I'll check wiring before I replace the solenoid.
