2008 GMC Sierra overtemp warning on computor

computor says the engine is overheated turn the A/C off, but the temp guage is stuck on 160 degrees. Are there a sensor bad, the motor is not overheated.

I have the exact same problem. It seems the temperature guage looses power and the needle moves to losest reading of 160. this intermittently happens and then correct suddenly.
