2005 GMC Sierra Speedometer going wacko

My speedometer is saying that I am goign 30mph when I am stopped. When I move it goes up to over 120 mph when going 50 mph.

hello friend.
check your speedometer.
disconnect the sensor
place the ignition switch in the run.
connect a jumper wire to one of the connector terminals and touch the other connector terminal repeately with the other end of the jumper wire.
the speedometer display should change if the wiring to the cluster and the cluster itself are ok
if the speedometer works than the VSS is at fault.remove it ,the gear on it may be damaged and spinning around.
