I am having trouble with my front end. Often when I turn left, either backing up or going forward, there is a grinding noise/feeling in my front left/driver's side wheel.

Tonight, I initialized my four wheel driver while at a complete stop and with the wheels straight. I began driving and the was a grinding sound what sounded like my entire front end. I could also feel the grinding. This also happened last winter. How screwed am I?

Hello
Thanks for the donation.

So when you drive straight you can still hear/feel the grinding from front end?

You need to check your wheel bearings and ball joints. Try wiggling wheel for play while vehicle is raised and supported. Should not give. If so you need to replace worn parts.
It sounds like you may have a faulty CV joint as well. This can cause grinding noises and is more likely the culprit here, as it will be a more violent and noticeable grinding then wheel bearings/ball joints.

Hope this helps..
