My diesel GMC Sierra 2500HD speedo stopped working. The cruise control still works, and all other guages on the dash work. The needle is pointing straight down. Between 0 and 120. Fluctuates a little bit now and then, but never registers actual speed. My son-in-law removed the fuse to the guage, started the truck, and reinserted the fuse. This seemed to remedy the problem for about 5 miles of driving, then back to subzero speed. No problems with the way the truck runs or drives. Do I have to have the dash cluster replaced, and what can I expect that to cost me? If not that big of a deal, what do we troubleshoot next, since the fuse doesn't appear to be the problem? Thanks for the advice.
