2003 GMC Sierra Price to rebuild transmission

I have a 2003 GMC Sierra 1500 with 90k miles. The transmission took a dump on me today and the mechanic said it needs to be rebuilt at the cost will be 2k. Does the price seem right?

depends on what is being replaced in the tranny but it will cost at least $1,000 easily in just labor. 2k is fair cost to have it removed, overhauled and installed.
