2003 GMC Sierra V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

ran truck low in fuel (fuel lightcame on) put fuel in it and replace the filter. truck fan for about 2min and shut off. started again and the malfuction light came on.the will run for about 2min smooth and them it will run rough and die. any clues?

Check the fuel pressure if its within specs-fuel pump could be going southbound
