1999 GMC Sierra It sounds like an exhaust leak at manifold.

Like air escaping/ ticking sound made from left side of engine only when under a load. No load no noise despite raising rpm's. Mechanic said, they all do that, I think it is a leak from a rusty exhaust manifold gasket. It doesnt have the ticking sound of valves but thats why I'm asking.
