1999 GMC Sierra Fuel Pump

Replace fuel pump approximately 2 months ago. Recently it has started to hesitate while accelerating. Replaced fuel filter, still wouldn't start. Tapped bottom of gas tank with rubber mallet and it started right up. Any ideas on what might be wrong?

Inspect the wiring if okay you probably have to replace it again.

Thank you, kind of suspected wiring. Do you know if this year of GMC has had issues with the fuel pump? This will be the third in 2 years.
