There is a part that will not allow thre gear shifter to move from park. It is on the base of the shifter to the right side. the left side is where the linkage cable is hook to the gear shift. This happen after I repaired the front breaks. I don't think that had anything to do with this problem.

If you start the truck the part will not move. b[img:70bd38a203]http://www.2carpros.com/forum/automotive_pictures/556337_DSCF2127_1.jpg[/img:70bd38a203][img:70bd38a203]http://www.2carpros.com/forum/automotive_pictures/556337_DSCF2127_1.jpg[/img:70bd38a203]ut if you turn the truck off the part will move. what is this part and why does it not move when you crank the truck?

this is what is keeping the truck from being shifted from park to any othe ear.

Are the brake lights working? If so could be the shiftlock control solenoid you are talking about that's being powered by the brake switch and not activating
