How do you know there is air in the gas line?
If your engine started up after you changed the fuel pump - it is virtually impossible for there to be any air in the fuel line -- unless you have an obvious fuel leak or o-ring failure. Is there any fuel leaking?
It is more likely that your fuel pump is not running. The most common cause of this (after a fuel pump change) is the fuel pump electrical connector or the fuel pump ground connection.
Check for fuel pressure. Then check the fuel pump ground connection - which is located just before the fuel tank and attatches to the frame crossmember. It is a black wire that breaks out of the wiring harness just before the fuel tank. Clean up this ground - it is better to just cut it off and make a new clean connection. Then check the fuel pump connector itself. When you remove these connectors - the pins inside tend to loosen up which creates a loose connection - which will cause your problem. It is best to just replace these connectors.
If these things do not do the trick - change the fuel pump relay located in the fuse box under the hood.
Your problem is most likely an electrical issue.
