2000 GMC Safari Steering wheel removal

Engine will not shut off when key is turned. Only the accessories go off. Been having to pull fuel pump relay then the battery for the rest of the system.
: is it the key and lock or an electrical item.? Thanks

Hello Based off what you are saying it may be a defective ignition switch or the relay is stuck. I attached where the relay is, I would replace that first and then check the ignition switch.
