oil pressure sending unit????

O.K, I'm drivin' down the road and all of a sudden my car dies; oil pressure gauge shows 0. I get out,check the oil, it's full. Open the hood, car is smokin' and will not start. Oil Pressure Sending Unit?, Oil Pump, what gives? [/i][/b]

Is the explorer in "DoratheExplorer" the vehicle we are discussing. What year, engine, mileage?

Oil pressure sending unit would be the 1st place I would look.

No, it's on an '89 Beretta. Well, I changed that out & there is some oil in the radiator. I was told that this vehicle has an oil cooling unit either internal or external of the radiator that would cause this problem. So, do you know if this car has one?

P.S. Like Dora my explorer has seen lots of blacktop! It really is a great & informative show!

Look at your dip stick and oil filler cap. If you see something that resembles the look of a chocolate milkshake you have a problem. Coolant is getting into the oil and vice a versa.

Most cars with an automatic tranny have a coolant resevior built into the side of the radiator for cooling transmission fluid. Not a real common failure tho.

Try a cooling system flush and then keep a careful eye on it.
