85 cavalier 4-cylinder - Engine died when pulling out of driveway and would not restart. The battery and the alternator are new. Have interior lights, etc. Put car in neutral and pushed back to parking spot. Then noticed funny smell coming from vents. Did not smell like oil but had a sweet smell to it. Maybe anti-freeze. Possibly a hose? Need ideas before I go to the repair shop.

I had the anitfreeze smell in my wifes '97 s-10. It was a leaking heater core. The part was $40 for the part, and took about 3 hours to install. On the s-10 I had to drop the steering coulmn, and remove the dash, but it was realtively easy. Just take your time. Thought this might help. -Eric.
