Gas in oil

I have an '89 GMC S-15 v6 4.3L 4x4 truck and I believe gas is getting into the engine oil some how. The oil was the color of "red mud" and it was only 200 miles old. (Very low mileage driving truck) I changed the oil a month ago and now it's getting to the color of cream. When I changed the oil, it smelled of gas.

I was thinking that maybe the mechanical fuel pump was leaking into the block, but I can't find a mech fuel pump so I'm not so sure. It has a carb and isn't fuel injected.

It runs great otherwise for 122k miles. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Really the only thing it could be is that you have a bad gasket somewhere, where maybe where the fuel pump hooks up. Or it could be water in your engine from you head gasket. That's possible too.

I looked into the FP and it electrical. If I was loosing water through a gasket, wouldn't my coolant level change?

Yeah. You should have hardly any water in your radiator if it's water.

The truck is driven only a few miles a day and may never have a chance to "warm up" properly especailly this time of year. Could that be a factor in the milky dipstick problem?
