hello, 99 chevy trailblazer (has S-10 body) only driverside headlight (low beam) does not turn on. I have replaced the bulb socket, it came on for a second then went off just as fast. Manual switch doesn't turn it on either. Thanks for your help.

did you touch the bulb? if so it will blow from the oil in your skin, also check the socket. if corroded it will short across. if it is corroded get some diode greese and install

Suggested Repair

Check whether the bulb was handled with bare hands, since skin oil can cause it to fail. Inspect the socket for corrosion that can short the circuit, and if corrosion is present, clean it and apply dielectric grease.

Conversation Summary

The owner of a 1999 Chevy Trailblazer reported that the driver-side low-beam headlight would not turn on. Replacing the bulb socket made it light briefly before going out, and the manual switch did not restore it. The expert advised checking for bulb contamination from skin oil, inspecting the socket for corrosion that could cause a short, and applying dielectric grease if the socket is corroded.
