How do you remove the old battery from a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix?

Remove the support rod, take off the plastic cover. use an 8mm (5/16) wrench and disconnect both cables, the negative first. Lift the battery out. Watch your fingers, it's a tight fit. Good luck
