I have a 1996 Chevy Blazer with 150,000 miles. The air from A/C and heat only comes out from floor vents and defrost windshield vents. The main face forward vents do not work. I did hear a "thump" as I was driving and this problem has been since. This happens no matter where the setting knobs are positioned at. What could be the issue and is it expensive to repair?

this normally indicates you have a vacuum leak to one of the heat/ac controllers under the dash. a vacuum leak puts the system into a safe mode so that you have defrost ducting if vacuum fails to another controller.
