High Idle

At start up idle races, then when engine should be warm enough it comes down but not a lot. Does anyone know if there is an idle adjustment screw. It's a 2.8L 6 cyl. Engine. Also I thought I would install aftermarket gauges when I removed the temperature sensor and installed the new one the truck wouldn't even start in the morning. When I switched it back I noticed the idle would come down if I unhooked the sensor plug. Any Ideas?

IAC valve on the TBI unit. (Idle Air Control)(Throttle Body Injection) Common issue and is easy to replace.

Thats my guess.

Hello: The coolant temp sensor for the ECM will control idle speed when cold until gets warm. Works just like a choke. As the Engine warms the idle speed will come down. Idle speed is controlled mainly by the IAC motor. Also could be a cracked vacuum hose somewhere, or possibly fell off. Bad coolant temp sensor can cause problems with idle and all other RPM ranges
good luck
Darryl.
