when you turn the heaer on it doesn't warm up, i have to drive it for a little while then the gauge light comes on, it goes back to normal setting on the gauges then the heater will work, i believe it's the thermostate and if so how do i go about replacing it myself

Drain antifreez follow top radiator hose to engine and thermostat is in that housing. Unbolt clean gasket replace and fill.
