I have a 2001 GMC Jimmy Diamond edition with only 26k miles on the clock i have owned the car since it was brand new. I hardly dorve the vehicle but am starting to use it alot now.

Recently i began to have an issue with the vehicle stalling out and running rough. Upon inspection i found that the truck all of a sudden had two dead cylinders.

first i changed all the pluges, wires, fuel filter and air cleaner. all of which did not help. i was told the fuel injector spider could be the cause and after taking it apart we found the distributor had play in it. so of course i replaced both and the truck ran fantastic for a few days.

After a few days one morning i started the truck up and it ran a little rough the service engine soon light came on but the then the truck ran perfect. 3 days later the light goes off and stays off for almost a month. Now it has been coming on and going once a week. I put the vehicle on the sanner a few times and was getting either a P0305 or P0300.

At this point i am not sure what would be the next steps to trouble shooting this problem and was hoping someone here could help.

this is a code for multiple cylinder misfire or one . it was #5 that was called out. It could be a vacuum leak, a leaky injector, or a plugged injector or just something in the spark plug. you'll need a pro to take a look at it as the scanner he has can do a few things yours can't. There was some intake gasket problems during that year so it may be that as well......

it cannot be the spark plugs or the injectors because they were all changed and brand OEM parts were used.

I have a tech 2 and i have many times data logged the engine while driving it to detect a misfire and it just doesn't happen. there is no misfire except during that 30 second window just after start up and there is no telling when it will happen its just random. other than that it runs like a brand new vehicle.

just because you changed the injectors doesn't mean you coulnd't have got something on them when they were installed. But i would spray some choke cleaner along the intake and see if you have a vacuum leak as that would give you a misfire. It wouldn't show up electrically but still can give a miss or act like one. Also check the crank and cam sensors as they can have to many ohms and act up occasionally and not give a code.....
