hi i just purchased a 200- jmc jimmy the 4wd doesnt work if i push the button for 4 hi or low you can hear the transfercase engadge but the front wheels wont engadge what should i check first thanks chris

hi chris remove the motor from the front axle and dissasemble and clean retry this should fix prob.. billymac

I have a 95 gmc jimmy with the push button 4x4 too.. i had the same problem.. you could hear it and it would feel like it untill you put it back in drive and started driving... this problem was a (vacuum acuator ) located under your battery and battery tray.. you will notice it looks like a diapram or horn in a way, this pushes and pulls a cable that keeps the transfer case engaged or dis-engaged... my "vacuum actuator" was torn. i replace it and the cable aswell and it works as it should now.. the part is around ($60-$75)
