2000 GMC Jimmy master cylinder?

to shift from park was tricky. sometimes the brakes and the shifter would not work together. i pushed on the brakes hard, and the brakes hit the floor. there is not much stopping power. is this a bad master cylinder, or a leak somewhere?

open hood and check brake fluid ,suspect broken brake line or hose
