Loud moises from rear end, mechanic tells me it is the differential and has given me a price to rebuild, $800, but said that the outside is all rusty and has recommended that I replace it with a used one. He has not opend the unit up as of yet to inspect. This vehical was driven in NY for 5 years before relocation to NC. Is there an issue with rust on the outside of the differential? would you recommend a new used or rebuild the existing?
