2000 GMC Jimmy V6 Four Wheel Drive Automatic 176000 miles

On the Jimmy my wife drives the 4WD light on the dash flashes when you try to engage 4lo, 4Hi, or auto 4wd. Thw 4Wd drive will not enage 4 Hi on the fly you have to stop and put the vehicle in neutral place it into 4 Lo and then push 4 hi and it will switch from 4 Lo to 4 Hi. However the lights do not change to a solid colr like they used to. Now they just blink continously unless you are in 2 Hi. We bought a new switch thinking that it had something to do with it, but that was not the case. Is there anyone out there that can help?

Have the PCM scanned for ALL codes. Should have stored a code if the lights are flashing. Need to scan for "B" (body) codes not just "P"

[how do I scan for those codes. The same way I get the engine codes and will a engine code scanner work

Depends on the scanner. Most inexpensive scanners only do "P" codes, that is where most driveability problems are found. Does it give you a selection menu, or just reads when plugged in?
