1998 GMC Jimmy transmission trouble

Transmission problem
1998 GMC Jimmy 6 cyl Manual 100000 miles

my truck will not go into reverse at all and is hard to go into first i do not want to have to replace the whole transmission as money is tight is there a specific route i can try in order to avoid buying a new tranny i do not think that the oil or filter has ever been changed but i dont know if that would be good enough to fix it please help

Check hydraulic fluid in resivor if good most likely needs clutch
