1998 GMC Jimmy Clicking noise when fan is turned on.

1998 GMC Jimmy 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic

I started to get a clicking noise when I turned on my fan whether AC or heater, when the clicking noise is made the Idle goes up then down. My car surges forward when in gear. If I turn off the fan it all goes away and runs fine.

Hi:

It's normal for the engine RPM to increase with the AC. However, it isn't normal with the heater, unless it's the defroster. With the Defroster, the AC works to dehumidify the air, so it comes on then too. If it comes on with the heater, then chances are there is a problem in the switch.
