1997 GMC Jimmy No dash lights; wont start

Last night came out and my car would not start. There were no dash lights, althought the headlights and radio were working. When I turned the key it seemed like it wanted to start. Tried this several times and then finally it started. It then drove fine and when I got home turned it off and tried to start it again and the same thing. HELP!!!

If the starter won't crank, and no dash lites, I'd check the feed to and from the ignition switch. Also make sure the battery has a full charge and the connections are good.
