Hi everyone, I have a 1997 gmc jimmy with a 4.3 liter, 6 cylinder vortec engine. It has 128,500 miles on it. The problem is the air conditioning is not working. I recharged it and it worked for about 2 days then it wasent working again so im guessing there is a leak in the system somewhere. I used a black light to try to see where the leak was but I couldnt see anything. So number 1, where do these commonly leak at? And how can I tell where it is leaking from? Thanks

The number one problem with your compressor, the GM HT6, mounted right on top of the engine, is case o-ring leak. The leak is usually located under the compressor, and is often missed because it's a hard place to get a light in. Once you remove the compressor though, you'll see it. Not a plug, but the link below has our write-up on the compressor, and the benefits of replacing it with a pinned unit.

The good news is that replacing that compressor is very easy, and fairly inexpensive.
