1996 GMC Jimmy wont shift

my 96 jimmy will not shift gears unless you let off the gas. If you dont let off the gas it will buck. It wont go into overdrive unless u manually put it into drive then overdrive, then it drops back into drive. Any help is appreciated

You could have a kickdown cable out of adjustment, or the trans modulator valve is bad or has low vacuum. I'm not sure which trans you have, some even have electric shift solenoids, but i think yours is a vacuum shift trans.
