1996 GMC Jimmy electrical problem

When I put the headlights on the radio clock light and the shift light dims out and the fuel pump gets noisier and also the battery cable sparks a little when I hook up the battery.What can it be? Thank You.

Hello, I'd start by checking the charging system. If you have a digital multimeter you can check alternator output, engine running. Make sure the battery has a full charge, cables/wires clean and tight on both ends.

There is an allumination fuse in the fuse box for the dash lites, check for available voltage, lites on, engine running.
