Why is there antifreeze in the EGR valve? I was told that the head gasket is leaking. Could that be the problem?

Well, The top of the engine has to come off and most of the front of the engine. So, it could run as much as $1,000. Maybe more depending on labe rate in your area.

When you are driving there is a sound coming from the rear end which sounds similiar to a wheel bearing that is getting worn. I was told that it is a normal sound that goes with Hyundais. Is that true or am I being fed a crock? The car has been "certified" but has this problem been addressed when they checked it over?

Yes, This is a common problem if the engine has over heated And / Or GM does have a defect with the Design or Manufactured Assembly placement of Intake Gasket Sealant on the corner or one side.
You may have a local repair shop look up this manufacturer suggested corrective action concerning this Intake Gasket !
It is a Medium Big job !
