1991 GMC Jimmy Battery PLEASE help me

How do I connect the end of a negative battery cable to a battery that is made with the ports on the side when my original battery had the ports on the top? It seems like the cable is made for a top port style battery. Please help me out, I messed with it for like an hour. PLEASE HELP!! Am I really retarded or what? Dont answer that. I have to go to work soon. Am I being too vauge???? :?

Parts store should have the adapter for it from side to top combination
