2004 GMC Envoy fuel pump

How can you tell if the fuel pump has gone bad? My vehicle will start and will idle but when you put it in drive it will only go about 20 feet and it spits and sputters and then die.

How can you tell if the fuel pump has gone bad?

Check the fuel pressure with a fuel pressure tester designed for your fuel system.
