2003 GMC Envoy Shift indicator

When I put my truck into D for Drive, sometimes the light bar under the D doesn't light. The same with P for Park. Thus, it doesn't allow the lock/unlock for the doors to activate. Any ideas?

You will most likely have to remove floor console and check switch. It may be loose or bad and/or the shift cable has come loose from housing or at trans. connection.
