tonight when driving home from out of town my service engine soon came on and started flashing, I then notice the vehicle started misising when the gas pedal was pressed, when at a red light it idle a little ruffly

SES light coming On is an indication of a problem within the engine management system -what you need to do here is scan the computer for codes this is your starting point of diagnosis.
