2003 GMC Envoy 4WD Problem

I am having a problem with my 4WD. I have noticed that the service 4WD light comes on while I am driving. Now whenever I start the vehicle in 2HI, the 4HI light would come on and when I try to change it back to the normal of 2HI, it wouldn't. It stays in the four wheel drive. Sometimes I would have to turn off the engine and restart it to see if it would go back into 2HI. Sometimes it does if I do let it sit for an extended period but most time it would just stay in the 4HI as I am driving.

probably your motor is to corroded to work correctly. I think on you tube there is a thing showing how to take it apart , clean and put a little bit of silicone RTV so that it won't corrode up any more. It can be done but you need to be careful taking it apart and back together again. But make sure it is getting power first so it's not something else......
