2002 GMC Envoy 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

I failed my smog check due to the camshaft position sensor.

What can i do to fix this problem and pass it. The technician suggested that it needs to be replaced but they are not guaranteeing that it will pass although that's what showed up on the report.

An urgent response will be appreciated, if possible. Thanks!

Is the check engine light on at the moment? If so what is the exact code P????. The cam sensors are prone to failure because of the variable valve timing, but you wanna be sure before you just replace the part
