1998 GMC C3500 heater fan won't work

The whole heater fan switch started smoking so I pulled the fuse, got home and began replacing parts. I've replaced the fan itself, the switch (which was burned and melted) the connector (which was also burned and melted) and now I hear a click when I turn the fan on, but nothing happens. What next?
