When I let off the accelerator the trans makes a high pitch sound. Almost like it is having trouble downshifting. It only makes it when I slow down it shifts fine when I accelerate.

It may not be the transmission have you checked the oil? the sound may be coming from the differential amplifying its self through the driveline to the transmission you better check the oil in the rear end too.
