Transfer case 2002 GMC 2500 HD developed a small hole on passenger side of transfer case. Dealer wants to replace transfer case for $3000. Can't afford that. Can hole be repaired by using a very short screw and applying JB Weld over the screw. What could have caused the hole?

Hi there, more than likely a gear toot has failed and fractured the casing, it is not just a matter of plugging the hole, there may be further case cracking involved and you won't know what has caused this until the transfer is dismantled, i would be very concerned that the transfer will start to cause more drama if this is not checked out completely.
