I have a 1997 GMS Sierra 4wd pkup, it just would not start, it cranks well, plenty of good fuel, but will not catch. The shop said fuel pump. They have replaced it twice, and it runs for a few minutes then stops. They are still working on it. It's been a week. Thanks

Tell them to start the vehicle when its idling remove the fuel pump relay and see what happens-if it dies out to inspect and test the fuel pump/oil pressure sending unit. This is the one the powers the fuel pump as soon as the engine starts.

When checking the oils pressure fuel pump sensor, what exactly would they look for? To see thatit initially powers up and starts the fuel pump process?

If it dies out when the fuel pump relay is removed you either have an oil pressure problem or the fuel pump/oil pressure sending unit is defective-

The oil pressure closes the switch to power the fuel pump
