1997 GMC C2500 fuel pump

We've raised the bed of the truck and have access to the top of the fuel tank. Having trouble removing the flange. Any specific hints or instructions for completing the job of fuel pump replacement would be helpful.

They make a spanner wrench for this job...but I just use a brass punch and hammer and tapp one of the prongs in the loosen direction...
