timming

Im changing the timming chain and I cant find what the degres are for my 1982 gmc 1500 with a 350 there is no sticker left under the hood and I would like to know what the timming should be before or after tdc.its automatic with a carburator .

Most 350 GM motor timing setting varied from generation to generation.
Your best bet is to set it to 8 BTDC and adjust it about 2 either way until you think it runs right.

That's just an old rule of thumb trick.
