My compressor went out and we just got it replaced. Our suburban ran hot one time before we got the new compressor put on now its fixed and its still running hot. Its a 1993 it has 257,000 GMC Suburban with a 350 motor. Could you please give me any suggestions on why you think it might be running hot. If I turn on the heat the temp goes down.

Thanks

Have you checked the radiator cap? You can get it pressure tested if it fails replace it. I would also look at the thermostat if it is sticking and not openning up it won't cool the engine. The temp goes down when you tiurn the heater on because there is stiill cold coolent in the heater resevoir that get pushed through the system it cools it but only temporary.

Run vehicle till hot shut it off and reach thru the fan blades and feel around the rad core if its hot in one spot and cold in another its plugged replace it. With the AC on it really puts a load on the radiator because the condensor is in front of the rad. It gets all the heat the ac system is getting rid of. When you turn the heater on its acting like another small radiator and getting rid of some of the heat.

Hope this helps!
