I have a 1997 k1500 truck which the headlights go out when I turn the llights on. The day time running lights work and the park lights work but when the switch is turned to the head lights on postion the lights go out.
what I've been doing is using the daytime lights and the park lights at night but I have no high beams. Could it be the switch?

I have the exact same problem with the same truck. A 97 Siverado Ex Cab K2500. The Day Runnuing Lights work fine but when you switch to headlights. Nothing!
I am interested to hear the answer given to glengenny.

Well since no one has helped you yet let me tell you what was wrong with my truck.
I checked the fuses and bulbs and they were OK so I went out and paid 40 bucks for a new switch and installed it. But that did not fix it! So I took it to a repair guy who found a broken headlight wire inside the dashboard.

Do you know where the wire was located? My next step was to try the switch but it sounds like that may not be the solution to my problem.
Thanks
