i have a 2001 gmc and it was sitting for bout a month and i pulled it out the barn and the 3rd time i went to start it it seemed like it took a few more crankes to start.within the next day and a half it went totally down hill.when the check engine light came on ot says random multiple misfire. i changed the distributor and rotor and spark plugs. no change. i thought i might have got bad gas athe station so i changed the feul filter and checked the feul for water and added some heet feul treatment. still nothing and before i dump anymore money into it was just wondering if you might know ofa common problem with chevy ignition system.any advise and knowledge would be greatly appreciated. thank you

Lets do below to determine if its fuel or spark problem and comeback with some results we start here

Get a helper disconnect a sparkplug wire or 2 and ground it to the engine at least 3/16 away from ground -have helper crank engine over-do you have a snapping blue spark? If so-you have a fuel related problem, check the fuel pressure to rule out the fuel filter/fuel pump/pressure regulator and listen to the injector/s are they pulsing or hook up a noid light. No snapping blue spark continue to troubleshoot the ignition system-power input to the coil/coil packs,coil's resistances,distributor pick-up coil, ignition control module, cam and crank sensors and computer Note: If it doesn't apply disregard it.
